Licensed Psychotherapist & Instructor

Roxanne Grobbel, JD, LCSW, RPT-S is a licensed attorney in Florida and Michigan and practiced law before returning to school to follow her dream of becoming a psychotherapist. She received her masters degree in social work from Florida Atlantic University and became a licensed clinical social worker. With over 19 years experience she has been a passionate advocate for the mental health and wellness of at-risk and traumatized individuals.  She has trained hundreds of mental health professionals throughout Florida and Nationally.  

Roxanne's passion is training therapists so they can better help their clients. She is a much sought after training in EMDR and Play Therapy.  Her enthusiasm and experience allow her to make learning fun. She Conducts workshops nationwide on Trauma, EMDR, Play Therapy, Infant Mental Health.  She developed an EMDRIA Approved EMDR Training Course, an EMDRIA approved EMDR and Children advanced course and a comprehensive 72-hour Play Therapy course - which includes modules on Trauma, Infant Mental Health, Brain Development and Play Therapy Techniques.  Roxanne has trained thousands of mental health professionals while conducting workshops at local, state, and national levels. As a State of Florida Qualified Supervisor she has supervised and trained masters level interns and LCSW registered interns.  She has been an instructor at FAU School of Social Work and Palm Beach State College and presented at numerous other universities.​

 

Roxanne was awarded the 2016 Social Work Educator of the Year Award from NASW Florida.  She was recognized as an outstanding Florida Play Therapist and received the Viola Brody Award from FAPT in 2016.   She is an Approved EMDR Consultant (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and Certified EMDR therapist with nearly 20 years experience. As an Approved Provider of continuing education from EMDRIA, Roxanne teaches EMDR workshops for therapists. She has extensive training in EMDR including the treatment of children, addiction, and chronic pain.  She has 20 years experience as a play therapist and trains others as a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor.

 

Roxanne has years of experience as a clinician, supervisor and Clinical Director. She served as Clinical Director for All ‘Bout Children, Inc. and the Center for Child Counseling and as Executive Director of Kids First, Inc.  As such, she designed award winning curriculum, workshops and instructional materials to train professionals in providing effective therapies and developed therapeutic programs in at-risk preschools as well as successfully wrote numerous grants. 

As an EMDR therapist, she has successfully used EMDR to treat both adults and children who have experienced trauma, and chronic stress. She treats clients through an innovative intensive program in her practice in Boca Raton, Florida and at 11th Hour Trauma Retreat in Denver, Colorado.  EMDR is a powerful therapeutic method that accelerates the treatment of a wide range of clinical issues.   People often need help to restore their level of well-being or ability to function successfully.  Roxanne does this by offering a safe nonjudgmental environment combining various types of therapies designed to meet the specific needs of the client. She also works as a consultant for therapists seeking to become certified in EMDR. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida and Colorado.

Social Work Educator of the Year Award

Touch in Child Counseling and Play Therapy

Roxanne has coauthored a chapter with her colleagues, Kristina Cooke, LCSW, RPT-S and Norma Bonet, LCSW, RPT-S entitled, Ethical Use of Touch and Nurturing-Restraint in Play Therapy with Aggressive Young Children in the book Touch in Child Counseling and Play Therapy edited by Janet Courtney and Robert D. Viola Brody Award

Roxanne was deeply honored at the 2016 state Conference of the Florida Association for Play Therapy to be presented with the Viola Brody Award which recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of Play Therapy.
