What does the course include?
This EMDR Therapy Basic Training Course and curriculum is approved by EMDRIA and is designed for licensed mental health practitioners who treat adults and children in a clinical setting (See Qualifications below). This course will develop clinical competence in using EMDR through didactic presentations, demonstrations, and supervised practicum. The goal of this workshop is to help clinicians feel competent in using of EMDR, both in their case conceptualization and in their treatment implementation.
• This is the complete course, which consists of 20 hours of didactic and 20 of supervised practicum. It also includes the required 10 hours of consultation which is conducted via phone (must be completed within 15 weeks).
• EMDR is a comprehensive psychotherapy that accelerates the treatment of a wide range of pathologies and self-esteem issues related to disturbing events and present life conditions. It has been tested in over 20 randomized controlled studies with trauma patients, and hundreds of published case reports evaluating a considerable range of presenting complaints, including depression, anxiety, phobias, excessive grief, somatic conditions and addictions. The Adaptive Information Processing model guides the process. EMDR focuses on adaptively processing memories, which are the basis for the client’s symptoms and dysfunction. EMDR Basic Course fee includes:
• An EMDR Training Manual with handouts and protocols
• 20 hours of lecture

• 10 hours of group consultation (not all courses include consultation!)

Is certification required to practice EMDR?
No. Certification is not required at this time in order for a clinician to practice EMDR. If you have taken the basic training and consultation, then you can use EMDR under your license. Certification in EMDR is an option that many therapists have wanted because of managed care concerns and hospital privileges. In some venues, two weekend trainings in EMDR are not considered sufficient. The EMDR Certification model is patterned after the certification models of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAFMT) Approved Supervisor training.
"A clinician who is EMDRIA Certified in EMDR has been licensed or certified in their profession for independent practice and has had a minimum of two years experience in their field. They have completed an EMDRIA approved training program in EMDR therapy, have conducted a minimum of fifty clinical sessions in which EMDR was utilized, and have received twenty hours of consultation in EMDR by an Approved Consultant. In addition they must complete twelve hours of continuing education in EMDR every two years." (http://www.emdria.org/?page=21).
When do I receive a Certificate of Completion?
You will receive a certificate of completion via email after you have completed the Basic EMDR training workshop and 10 hours of follow-up consultation.
What is the Refund Policy?
Cancellation and Refunds for the 5 day trainings: Full amount minus $50.00 service fee may be refunded up until 45 days prior to commencement of the training. Due to the small size of the training and the time commitment, no refunds, credits or accommodations will be made after that time.

Sign in/out sheets will be available for the first and last 15 minutes of each day. Participants must also attend 10 consultation sessions. Both are required prior to receiving a certificate of completion – certificates will not be sent until the completion of the 10 hours of consultation.
When should I take this course?
Understand that during the supervised practice sessions you will be using your personal experiences. If you are not willing or are not able to due to medical or emotional stability, you should not take the course at this time. If you are not currently working with clients or will not have the opportunity in the very near future you should consider taking this course at a later time. The skills learned require practice and you will be required to discuss cases during the consultation upon completion of the course.
